Our 12 rooms can accommodate up to 25 guests, and our convenient location offers easy access to a multitude of vineyards, the quaint town museum, various eateries and convenient travel distances from towns such as Stellenbosch, Franschoek, Tulbagh and Paarl.
Our rooms offer guests facilities such as free wireless internet access, air-conditioning, bar-fridges and several others. We are always available to our guests, and we endeavour to make your stay as comfortable as possible. As a result, we never have a shortage of return guests, old friends who pop in for a quick cup of coffee and new friends who feel welcome and at home in our home-away-from-home.

A better base of supporters would be hard to come by, as the town of Wellington so frequently supports us; for this we are most grateful and we try to give back as best we can. Cummings is a proud sponsor for both Hugenote High School, and Die Bordienghuis/Breytenbach Centrum (our local town theatre). We’re also involved with the local municipality in keeping our town neat and tidy, so visitors can enjoy our public areas on sunny days.
Our History
20 Cummings Street with its warm and wholesome atmosphere was originally renovated in 1993 as a home to the Visser family. In 2001 Mattie, co-owner and hostess, identified the gap between the demand and supply in the hospitality industry in Wellington and established Cummings as a well-known and sought-after destination within three years.
Cummings was the first accommodation establishment in Wellington to be graded and awarded three stars by the National Grading Council. In 2022, Mattie was joined by her daughter, Wilma, as manager, making Cummings the first intergenerational accommodation business in Wellington.
